Outed!!
The DEMON’S
CLAWS first lp repress is officially out! And don’t
forget, only 1000 copies were pressed; 500 for North America and
500 for Europe (exclusively distributed by PTRASH). Here’s
some info for those who don’t already know these garage
punks :
“From the ashes of bands like The Cut Offs, Scat Rag Boosters
and Les Météores, the DEMON’S CLAWS quickly
became an important part of the Montreal garage scene together
with BBQ and CPC Gangbangs. They originally released this first
lp on P.Trash records in 2004 (recorded by Edouard Laroque). After
touring the US and Europe, they’ve been rapidly related
to this new psych-country-garage-punk wave along with The Black
Lips. Short after, they signed on In the Red label and released
their excellent “Satan’s little pet Pig” album,
acclaimed one of the best garage album of 2006”.
First orders will receive yellow banana wax (only 100 copies per
continent!).
MRR # 298 : DEMONS CLAWS S/T LP
" Radio 81 thought that this self titled 12” was deserving
of a vinyl repress so they slapped on new (impressive) cover art
and sent it on its way. These songs haven’t gotten old or
tired over the past few years – instead, the echoed, desperate,
lo-fi booms of shadowy blues and 60’s garage punk snot are
still a good old sleazy time. It swaggers and sways as much as
ever.”
Vicious
Cycle's Neon Electric: Mixed and mastered by Jay Reatard,
this 3rd ep shows a brand new dimension of the band. 4 new songs
still inspired by early 80’s hardcore, but more in the early
Black Flag way. Best effort to date. Here’s what Felix Havoc
wrote on his website :
“Third and best 7" by this band by far. I saw these
guys play with Regulations in Ontario and was impressed. This
7" is heads above their last two in my opinion. Just good
raw hardcore punk like early Black Flag. Simple aggressive and
pissed off songs.”
The Toyotas
Run-down Cities: After their excellent “Makes
Headlines” album, which was a real success in Europe, here
is theses German's second effort! They now hit the American streets
with their frenetic 70’s punk that could easily fit in with
UK bands ala Buzzcocks, or with the early 80’s Americans
ala Dickies/Zero Boys.
And just for you collector freaks: The newspaper special edition!
Limited to 50 copies in America!
Press
Gang's SELF TITLED LP
Co released with Hardware and PTrash records, the Press Gang LP
is on its way! And, it’s already sold out in Germany! Definitely
for fans of early Black Flag or Adolescents! First press limited
to 650 copies!

Still in the closet, but on it's way out!
We‘re also waiting for Chocolat's
2nd ep (first was on Goodbye Boozy), the brand new band of Ysael
from the Demon’s Claws. Inspired by Velvet Underground and
60’s French Canadian “yéyé”, these
garage freaks will set aside your Saturday night home parties
with these 3 new songs! Cynical lyrics mixed up with super catchy
mid-tempo melodies. One and only pressing of 500 copies.
The limited edition of Statues
“are go” ep will be out in a week. Limited to 100
copies; mailorder only. The repress of New people lp (200 copies)
will be a Euro tour edition . 50 copies will be available thru
our mail-order and 50 other copies will be available thru PTrash.

In the Works!
We will release the 2nd ep from Ultra
Violence Ray (due out late winter 2008), a band from Sudbury/Ontario,
the same little Ontario town that gave us Statues and Vicious
Cycle. UV Ray play an American inspired punk ala Ramones/Angry
Samoans/Adolescents/early Descendents. Fuckin’ catchy shit!
The split ep Vicious Cycle/Cobra Noir is stillin the works. We
expect it spring 2008. 500 copies will be pressed.
We also have future plans with Retainers (their first LP), Short
Fuse, Human Mess, Loser Life, Statues, Vicious Cycle, CPC Gangbangs,
& many more.
All the items of our catalogue can be purchased at bistrodistro.com
in the US and at PTrash
in Europe.
We might not be frequent but we're always fucking worthy!

Here comes sickness!
Hey everyone. First of all, sorry for the lack of updates, and sorry
if some of you have waited a long time to receive your orders. I’ve
was very sick this summer and I spent some time in the hospital...
But don’t worry; now I’m okay and I’m ready to hit the record stores
with 5 new releases!!!
First one to come in is Homostupids
– the edge 7 inch. It’s now out at the PTrash HQ, but don’t worry,
it’s on the way to us. This one is strictly limited to 315 copies
here in America and it comes with 4 different color sleeves. Order
it fast!
The Demon’s
Claws first LP repress is at the pressing plant. The
new cover looks very nice! Chany of Inepsy did a great job! We expect
it early October. This one will be limited to 1000 copies; 500 will
be sold here in America and 500 are printed exclusively for PTrash
in Europe. Vicious
Cycle’s Neon Electric is at the pressing plant! We expect
it very soon! Still 500 copies in America and 500 copies in Europe
for PTrash. No repress is expected... The first ep is now sold out
forever in each version...
Radio 81 is very proud to co-release the
Toyotas "Run-Down Cities" 7 inch with PTrash! This band
simply fuckin' rules!!! It will be available in November.
Statues
just recorded new songs for their Deranged
7 inch. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed... The songs are fucking
good! Also, PTrash will
reissue their first album “Aux” on vinyl... It will be distributed
here by us, so don’t worry, you’ll get your copy. The first press
of “New people” is now sold out and the repress of 200 copies, with
new artwork, will be available early September... And, just to tease
all of you, a very limited version (100 copies!) of the “Are Go”
ep will be available soon on R81/PTrash... It will be available
VERY soon...
Finally, Vinyl
Addict Records and Radio 81 will release a split 7 inch
with Cobra
Noir and Vicious
Cycle! The 2 Vicious Cycle songs come from the “I’m watching
you” studio session! This one is due out in December. What
the fuckin' critics are saying;
CCSS – Punkcore/Punkwhore$ - by Will Kinser.
“On the surface a band like this may come off as simplistic to hipster
punks but I believe that they have tapped the vein of what used
to be good about punk rock. Three-chord songs that bounce and rattle
with snotty vocals, without pretentious rhetoric or fancy wording.
CCSS could easily fit in with UK 82 bands or with the early ‘80’s
Hollywood bands. Raw, snotty, no-nonsense punk the way it was meant
to be played – by Punx. If every spiky-haired fashion punk band
modeled themselves after CCSS, this world would be a better, slightly
inebriated, place to live. Try to argue with the fact that punk
is a fucking commodity and that club circuits, contracts, and businessmen
have stolen what was good about a counter culture away from us.
They hit the nail on the head. “One lie” is my favourite song on
this record; fucking catchy shit.”
CPC Gangbangs/The Confusers ep - by Mitch Cardwell “Of these two
Canadians bands, The CONFUSERS focus more on quick, buzzsaw stabs,
reminiscent of any number of “tweener-core” bands, though sounding
anthemic enough to confuse the ’77 clan. CPC GANGBANGS, a band I
apparently have to review every time a record comes in here or else
I’ll pout, are so goddamn good that I get pissed at myself for writing
them off as a side-project when they originally appeared. Every
new release by them pushes their raw, loud-as-fuck guitar-driven
punk rock to new height. Seriously, this band pretty much buries
anything this side of BASEBALL FURIES and other like-minded straight-shooters
nowadays, if only because they aren’t afraid to wig right the fuck
out once in a while. Here, CPC GANGBANGS tip the scales into noiseville
and I’m pleased as punch. The much-promised full length better appear
quickly... I’m running out of underwear.”
Now for the mushy part
I finally want to say a big thank you to my friend
and partner in crime Peter from PTrash
records in Germany. I owe him a lot in the success of Radio 81...
Note that every release that PTrash will put out will be available
thru me... Radio81records@yahoo.ca
Later,
Simon |

Movin' on up!
RADIO 81 headquarters has moved to Trois-Rivičres, Quebec. It's
cheaper living here and I can go fishing all day! Send Demos and
anything you think may interest us (including fishing tackle)
to: 802 Ste-Ursule, Trois-Rivieres, QC, CANADA, G9A 1P1.
The Statues
repress will be a little bit late. We have the records, but Ysael
left in tour with the Demon's
Claws before finishing the screened covers... Good
old Ysael, I wouldn't even let him take care of my cactus... In
the meantime, there's about 20 copies left of the first pressing...
Getting Reatarded
We're waiting for the final mix of Vicious
Cycle's 3rd ep called "Neon Electric". It follows the
path of "I'm watching you" but with more rockin' riffs. 4 new
songs that prove Vicious Cycle are more than a generic hardcore
band. Jay Reatard mixed and mastered it! Just wait until you hear
it, you'll thank mother Mary and baby Jesus for not being deaf!
The split Margaret Thrasher / Beauty Dopout
LP will be a little bit late. The BD songs needs to be remixed
so we chose Mr. Jay Reatard to do the job. Don't worry this one
will be available by the end of Summer. Still a P.Trash & R81
co-release.
Sometimes shit happens and sometimes it
doesn't.
We will not be releasing the split with Last Days & Cobra
Noir but we will release the two Cobra Noir songs with
another mystery band. We might know what band will be on the other
side, but we need some confirmations before announcing it! It
will be a co-release with our mates at Vinyl
Addict Records from Sherbrooke, QC.
Shit that does Happen

The
Homostupids "The Edge" EP (co-release with P.Trash)
will be available soon. Don't wait for the day that pigs can fly
to order this one because it will be sold out...
Ptrash and Radio 81 are also very excited to release a CPC
Gangbangs one sided LP this fall... This release will
follow their first full length that's due out in June.
Chany of INEPSY is going to do the Cover Art for the Radio 81
Re-press on the 1st Demon's Claws LP!! We are stoked! |

Radio81 #5. That's right, Ohio's Homostupids
will be doing their next EP with Radio81 over here,
and with P.Trash over there.
PUNK ROCK APPROVED!
We just received and approved the C.C.S.S
PunkCore/Punkwhore$ test press. This
EP just kills! This band reminds me of early UK punk ala One way
System mixed up with Americans like Crucifix/The Germs. We just
can’t deny that Steve Bennett’s vocals resemble those of Darby Crash!
Anyways, this band’s the most original thing to have come out of
the punk scene in recent years. … Any true punk rockers will enjoy
it! DON'T PANIC
The CPC Gangbangs / The Confusers split EP are on their way! CPC
Gangbangs will kick you in the teeth with “Waves of hate”! Political,
violent and so fucking raw. With this song, they dropped a new line!
They’re simply punk! On the other side, The
Confusers give 2 super catchy KBD songs in the vein of The Kids…
A must. RE-PRESSED
The last 500 copies of the Vicious
Cycle 7" will be available in March.
There will also be another 200 Statues
LPs available in North America and 500 in Europe around the same

Hi
everyone! First of all, I wanna apologize because the website
has not been updated often in the past year. You can now be reassured
because in 2007, Radio 81 will become bigger and will be more
assiduous.
MRR #285 STATUES - "New
People Make Us Nervous" LP
Wow, a welcome new dsicovery
for me. Mining the same updated pop-punk/power-pop/mod-punk vein
as SMALLTOWN or current faves (and co-Canucks) TRANZMITORS, with
the hint of a less snotty BRIEFS and a literary JAWBREAKER-esque
quality to the lyrics. Great stuff, recorded well and with great
catchy choruses. Sounds authentic but not retro. Eight songs at
45RPM for max. auditory effect. Apparently the CD has five more
songs-BOO! If those extra songs we're any good they'd be onthe
vinyl. You don't need 'em! (AM)
A great review plus two
top 10's for the month!
P.TRASH
Our association with P.Trash
Records, in Germany, became more serious and you guys will
be able to buy Ptrash stuff on the store section of this website
very soon. Also, P.Trash has decided to release a Europeen version
of Statues' New People... LP on his label. So in résumé,
you will get a lot of R81 bands on Ptrash : Vicious Cycle first
LP (due out late winter), CPC Gangbangs split The Confusers (due
out February), and, like I said before: Statues second LP. And
don’t forget that all these bands will be on Killed by Trash
Vol:2 together with Fucked Up and Brutal Knights
DEMON'S CLAWS - RE-ISSUE ALERT!
RADIO 81 will re-release
Demon’s Claws first LP which was aclaimed as one of
the best albums of 2004. It was originally released by Ptrash.
For this re-release, new artwork is planned along with some surprises.
Note that Demon’s Claws is the most well known garage band
in Canada and their second LP will come out soon on In the Red
label.
C.C.S.S.
On another note, we’re waiting for
the C.C.S.S
second EP that is still at the pressing plant. Punkcore/punkwhore
is just a foretaste of the upcoming album that RADIO 81 will co-release
with No Option records in California.

BEAUTY DROPOUT(MTL) / MARGARET THRASHER
(VAN)
One of the most exciting projects that
we have, is the split LP with Beauty Dropout and Margaret Thrasher.
Girl band fans, you’ll be satisfied!! Side A: Beauty Dropout
is an all girl band from Montreal who was playing in 2000/2001.
The guitarist now plays with The Ballast. They released a cd demo
that was only sold in the Montreal area. But believe me, this
band deserves to be heard!! Their side of the LP will include
6 catchy songs ala Bikini Kill with more melody. Side B: Margaret
Thrasher is my favorite all girl (minus one! Sorry Skidge!) band
that’s playing right now. They’re just awesome! Just
read the review they had in MRR for their first EP and you’ll
get exactly how they are. You can read an interview with them
in MRR #284. Their side of the LP will include 6 songs originally
released on their sold out demo. We also plan to release it as
a cd later.
VICIOUS CYCLE
We found about 15 Vicious
Cycle EP’s (8 red cover & 7 regular) and they’re
available only on this website! Hurry up! It’s your last
chance to get a copy!! And, 5 test presses are also avilable for
10$ each.
STATUES
The Statues
LPs sell like candy! The pink cover is almost sold out. Don’t
forget that the first press of this release comes with 2 different
screened covers and 150g heavy wax! Check out their upcoming review
in MRR, Punk Planet, Razor Cake, Slug & Lettuce and Terminal
Boredom.com.
CPC GANBANGS/CONFUSERS
After almost a year, we expect the
CPC Gangbangs/Confusers
split EP at the end of February. The master was sent at the pressing
plant in Germany.

Statues LP
out now! |
|
| |
The Statues
LP is officialy out. There are2 different screened covers - 100
pink and 400 yellow. Write me for wholesale prices (radio81records@yahoo.ca).
No wholesale for the pink cover. It is also distributed in Europe
by ptrashrecords.com
Here's a review they were given :
When I first heard Statues'
New people make us Nervous, I said to myself : "How did I
not previously notice this awesome 77 pop-punk band before?"
'Cause you know what? I thought it was actually real old school!
A mix of classic British punk ala Buzzcocks/The Jam with some
American sound that reminds me of the Replacements or late Hüsker
Dü. Each of these 8 songs were perfect one after the other
and after having the album on repeat for a whole week, I could
feel the heart that reminded me of early Jawbreaker albums and
even a Descendents way of delivering perfect catchy songs. These
guys show a very mature songwriting talent, combining cliché
and originality, which puts their music at a level rarely reached
by bands today. Destined to be a classic.
Radio 81 records will also release a split
LP/CD between Margaret Thrasher from Vancouver and Beauty Dropout
from Montreal due out next spring. You can buy Margaret Thrashers
great first ep "Are You There God?" from bistrodistro.com.
Checkout the great review they got for this ep in MRR #282. |

Great
news. Statues “New people make us nervous”LP will
be distributed by Ptrash records in Europe. It sounds like Ptrash
and Radio 81 will work together again.
The second CCSS EP “Punkcore/Punkwhore” will come out sooner than we expected! We’ll
send the master to the pressing plant this week. This 4 song EP will include
the cover: Dicks/hate the police. Unfortunately, the repress of their first
EP, originally on Ugly Pop, will be a little bit late.. Stay tuned.

The next release will be a split ep between CPC Gangbangs and The Confusers both
from Montreal, Canada. CPC Gangbangs (formerly members of the famous Spaceshits, Les Sexareenos and the Daylight lovers) will deliver 2 garage punk songs who could easily fit on a Killed by Death compilation. Their roughest noise to date. The Confusers is a garage band who play old fashion punk n roll who could also easily fit on a Killed by Death compilation… Briefly, Killed by Death eighties sound…in

100 black and 100 clear w/ alternate cover.

Another band that proves that Canadian hardcore can stand proud amongst the different DIY scenes found worldwide. Following in
the footsteps of their big brothers Career Suicide, Haymaker, Fucked up, Terminal
